Corporate Social Responsibility

At Vinhos Norte, social responsibility is not just a theoretical issue, it is something we consider when making every decision and taking any course of action.

Manuel da Costa Carvalho Lima & Filhos, Lda.’s adventure began more than 40 years ago in the small village of Várzrea Cova, Fafe, Portugal, and it is still here that we plan to remain, intending to fight rural migrations and providing the people in Várzea Cova and surrounding villages with a livelihood.

In 2005, aware of our ecological commitments, we invested in a water treatment facility to treat our waters. In 2006, we were awarded with a social responsibility award, by the Spanish Ourense business confederation (http://www.ceo.es/) , in the second edition of the Transborder Awards to Social Excellency, which made us proud and motivated us to be even more socially and environmentally responsible.

In 2008, we added Braille to our Portuguese wine labels for blind wine lovers. In 2009, we embraced a social campaign, associating the purchase of our Christmas packs with a 10% donation to a charitable institution.

Conceptualisation of all our products involves an ecological awareness, and we recycle according to Portuguese guidelines, giving materials a second life, always trying not to waste them.
